Beginning of the Internet

In the 1960s, computers were still big and moving them was both difficult and expensive. Consequently, transferring information easily from one place to another was a problem. Thus, there was a need to build functionality for sending and receiving information between different parties. As a result of the Cold War, there was also a desire to protect this information from potential nuclear attacks. As a result, the United States developed the world's first network called ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), and its first message was successfully sent on the network on October 29, 1969. This was the first version of today's Internet, which in 2022 consisted of over 5 billion users and included approximately 2 billion different websites.
